Nick
Lovely cottage in a fantastic location for walking and visiting local town of Wirksworth.
Terry
Very helpful communication with the owners and perfect quiet location - it was exactly what we were hoping for.
Penny
Lovely cottage, beautiful views, excellent beds, outside area ideal, and a beautifully styled home. The view is bucolic and ever changing. Many pictures of sunsets and sheep taken. Enjoyed the bountiful stars on the clear nights. Track needs to be navigated with care. Very friendly, approachable and prompt attention when minor issue occurred.
Neill
I have stayed at the cottage on several occasions as its such a lovely spot and will continue to visit regularly
Emma
Beautiful cottage with stunning views of the countryside. Good access to lots of public footpaths direct from the farm. Access up a steep, lengthy track from the road a few miles from the villages of Middleton, Cromford and Wirksworth. Kitchen was well equipped and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. The dining area got the morning sun and was cosy in the evening. The sitting area was cozy and we loved the wood burning stove, although we only lit it once as the cottage was so warm. The 2 bedrooms were well equipped with mirrors and plug sockets and the beds were very comfy. The bathrooms were clean and there was plentiful hot water. We will use again as it is a great location for us with friends in the area The dining area was nice
Lynn
Lovely, cosy cottage with beautiful views over the valley. Peace and quiet reigned and we especially enjoyed sitting in the sunshine in the dining area. It is a good centre for visiting the Peak District and the local village of Wirksworth is worth a visit for it's French Bistro, Le Mistral.
Jennifer
Very nice cottage, tastefully interior designed, lovely thick curtains and comfortable throughout. The artworks and pieces of pottery were super. Comfy King-size beds, good quality bedding and nice fluffy towels. The kitchen was well equipped.
Joshua
This is a stunning property. Perfect for a quiet retreat, lots of books and games are provided and the view of the valley is spectacular.. very quiet scenery and a great stepping off point for the peak district. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. We had a great time and will likely be back again.
Adrian
Overall, the cottage is lovely. The kitchen had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable, and the shower wonderful. The current seating arrangements in the lounge do not fully meet the needs of two couples - there is only one 2 seater sofa, and a couple of individual chairs. The area adjacent to the kitchen is great for meals.
Lionel
A little piece of heaven. It was wonderful to arrive at the cottage, unlock the door and walk through to an immaculately presented space for us to be staying in. We loved the kitchen and dining area/conservatory. The beds were so comfortable and the bed linen very soft. We sat outside and listened to the silence. We enjoyed the Italian restaurant in Wirksworth. And we spent a whole day at Chatsworth House which took all day to see as much as we could. We won't come back because we have so many other places to explore, but we will remember the day we arrived. It did not disappoint and we have recommended the cottage to our friends.
Lynne
A well equipped comfortable cottage.
Frank
Loved our stay and would go back again
Neill
A beautiful and very comfortable cottage with a fantastic outlook in the heart of the countryside. Ideal for anyone who is looking a a bit of seclusion.
Charles
The cottage was all we could have wished for. Modern, clean and comfortable. There was a welcome gift of a bottle of wine along with crisps and biscuits upon our arrival. The area had plenty of places to visit and things to do all relatively local and numerous places to eat and drink. This was our first holiday for a number of years and it didn't disappoint. We had a wonderful holiday at the But 'n' Ben and would certainly recommend to others.
Nigel
A charming and comfortable cottage in a stunningly beautiful and very peaceful location on a steep hill farm. Perfect for three (as in our case) or four adults. Rooms are very well appointed, and the beds are extremely comfortable! A few minor remarks: the state of cleaning on arrival left something to be desired (cobwebs everywhere, food debris and broken glass in dishwasher filter, hairs in shower drains) - from this and the visitor book, it looked as if we were the first guests for a while and it hadn't been cleaned on the day of our arrival. There were only just enough glasses and cutlery, so we had to wash up/run the dishwasher frequently (only 5 teaspoons!). Finally the photos may give the impression that shower gel is provided, but it isn't so remember to bring your own. But apart from that, this is a lovely property and very well situated to explore the southern half of the Peak District National Park. We had an excellent week here.
