Hillcrest Barn Reviews

Stephen
Good location and well equipped.
Jo
Well equipped, a few tweaks to make it even more comfortable. Good social space. Whilst the twin rooms are a little cosy it is outweighed by having all bedrooms en-suite plus a downstairs cloakroom. The only downside for us was the 9 oâ??clock departure as our average age was 75 and we had a few challenges! The local pub less than a minute away serves good food but their portions are huge. They get busy so good to know they do takeout. The cottage is central for visiting the area with many places not too far away, for instance Bakewell is a 10 minute drive. For a family group or a group of friends it is a welcoming home but for our group we would not book again because of the departure time.
Amanda
We had a lovely stay. The cottage is every bit as nice as looks on the website. Very comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. It is also in a great location for local walks and days out.
Kate
A lovely clean, quiet and comfortable cottage in a good location to visit the southern area of Peak District.
Clare
What a great find - the cottage was lovely, with everything we could need, it felt very homely. Milk in the fridge on arrival is always welcome for a cup of tea. The 3 bedrooms, each with en-suite, were clean and very comfortable. The village of Monyash was a perfect spot from which to explore the surrounding area, lots of good pubs near by. 3 generations had a fantastic time. Early check out meant we got up and got going!
Peta
An excellent cottage, well equipped and very convenient for visiting Bakewell, Matlock and Buxton and enjoying the surrounding countryside.
Janine
Cottage was very comfortable and great that each bedroom has it's own en suite. Would definitely recommend it to friends.
Stuart
Disappointed by Early check out:- The cottage was lovely-nice & clean, comfy, had everything we needed, and the location was perfect. The only real downside was the 9am checkout. It felt a bit too early, especially when most places let you stay until 10am. We ended up rushing around, didnâ??t have time for breakfast or a proper lie-in, and it just took the shine off the last morning. Itâ??s a shame, because otherwise it was a great stay. If the checkout time was a bit later, weâ??d definitely consider coming back.
Peter
An attractive, comfortable and well equipped cottage in a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Mary
Cosy, clean and comfortable cottage in a superb location for reaching all that the Peak District has to offer.
Barbara
We will happily stay again. Villagers welcoming including at the pub. House very comfortable. Easy parking for SUV and day visitors found spaces easily. Lovely walks even for those with some limitations. A great touring base. Although no obvious welcome pack actually lots was provided eg tea, coffee, sugar, milk, toilet roll, dish tabs , biscuits etc - seems trivial but meant we did not need to go shopping immediately Harrington is a good place to pick up essentials when you donâ??t want to head to Bakewell. Clean and warm and comfortable.
Carol
A really well placed cottage for visiting lots of Peak District favourites. Warm and cosy with a well equipped kitchen and overall very comfortable. Off street parking for one car but plenty of on street parking available.
Sian
Beautiful and well equipped cottage, great location in the centre of a lovely village with a nice pub within walking distance. And the village itself is so central to everywhere we wanted to visit. Weâ??d definitely stay again.
Tim
This is an excellent holiday cottage. It is exceptionally clean and comfortable and really does feel like home from home. All 3 bedrooms are all of a good size and have enquires and as a bonus there is a really useful utility room with washing machine and tumble drier. The location in Monyash is fabulous for walking and is so near Buxton, Bakewell and Ashbourne. There is a fantastic pub as well as a cafe in the village - both are closed on Mondays. Just be aware that there is no Vodafone signal available in the village but there is good free WiFi in the cottage.
Steve
Very comfortable cottage for upto 6 people in a great location
Rita
Everything was superb couldn't have wished for more. Very cosy cottage and excellent kitchen.
Martyn
Lovely cottage with plenty of thoughtful touches. Great location to explore the area.
Phil
Really clean & well equipped property, local pub very friendly with good food. Highly recommend.
Michael
Nice cottage, nice village, pub excellent. It's a shame about the 9am finish on the last day - makes for a very hurried exit. An hour extra to have a leisurely breakfast would make an enormous difference to the end of a holiday
Gordon
Wonderfully comfy, warm, spotless and really well equipped cottage in a beautiful village. Great walks and places to visit around the area. Our only criticism would be a 'Welcome Pack' that included bread would be a good idea, as there is no village shop. The sitting room is very cosy and great for just watching TV but if you want to just read a standard lamp would be much appreciated as there is no central light. We had a lovely holiday at the cottage. Thank you very much.
Yvonne
The 9am checkout is our only negative. Other than that we were happy with the cottage.
Virginia
The cottage was very clean, cosy, comfortable and well equiped. Plenty of seating, Beds very comfortable with stylish modern ensuite bathrooms. Great pub a stones throw away and usually located for lovely park district walks. We were a group of friends on a New Year break and we would highly recommend Hillcrest Barn. Only one small issue was the early 9am checkout.
Phitos
Very well equipped property, super clean and great location for exploring the Peake District. Only a few minor gripes. Firstly having to strip the beds prior to leaving and putting sheets in a laundry bag - as cleaning is included in the price, why did we have to do that? The second minor issue is the heating - the heating setting was set too high and timed for much longer than was necessary - this is very wasteful of energy. Finally, the sofas. They look as if they could do with being replaced. Not very comfortable and look a little shabby. These are minor points - we thoroughly enjoyed staying at the property and owuld be pleased to recommend it.
